Likely Solution: There is a syntax error with a function that may not immediately visible in GRAPH mode's display. The 9860's GRAPH mode displays four to five functions, but contains up to twenty functions. You can arrow down to see all twenty. These functions are graphed in order, meaning that if a later function contains a Syntax Error, the error message will block the graphs previously drawn. To resolve this, arrow down and delete or edit the offending function. Casio Master 7,983 Answers Re: SYNTAX ERROR Syntax Error I am willing to bet that if the calculator could talk she would tell you to stop feeding it commands that make no sense. Joking aside, each command has a certain syntax, similar to sentences you make in English: a prescribed order of the components of the sentence. For some calculators (the older generations) you press a number then the square root key to get the square root. For the newer ones, you press the square syntax error on root key. The calculator keeps waiting until you enter the radicand, then it calculates the root.So before using the command you must know in what order to press the key sequence. If you get an error with a certain key order, do the opposite. Now, why is the calculator giving you a syntax error always?. There could be may reasons.Try a simple addition or a multiplication. If you get a syntax error, it may be due the computational mode. You may be in statistics mode , or some other modes, I cannot begin to guess, because you say nothing about what you were doing when you get the errors.Try to reset the calculator to get to default computational mode. I hit 2nd key...don't hold it, (it should say 2nd in the lower left corner across from the DEG) then click the K button (also the divide key). The arrow and DEG will remain, but do not affect simple math calculations. Hope this helps! Posted on Mar 09, 2011 Helpful 0 Not Helpful Flag You can't post conmments that contain
